What's caught my interest this week has been the turn of events revolving around the open letter sent by 47 Republican senators to Iran, ostensibly to warn the country that any nuclear deal (which the administration is currently trying to negotiate with that country) could be ended by the next president. I heard this news with shock and embarrassment and became even more embarrassed after hearing about Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's reply.

While I respect your opinion, I think that what's more embarrassing and perhaps not so unsurprising is the fact that Obama continuously uses his executive power to veto acts by Congress to move forward and also leaves no standing bipartisan stance to address issues on the table.

And I can understand your position. However, I would say that Obama's executive actions don't apply to this particular issue, which is, I believe, legally and rightfully in the executive branch's court. As Zarif pointed out, "in international law, governments represent the entirety of their respective states, are responsible for the conduct of foreign affairs, are required to fulfill the obligations they undertake with other states and may not invoke their internal law as justification for failure to perform their international obligations."

I am embarrassed by this as well. The quote about the world not being the US was particularly spot on. I don't think bipartisanship is possible on any side at this point. House of Cards anyone?? Ugh.

I clearly need to use this break to watch House of Cards

I just want to start by saying that I don't think our Congress even knows what the word "bipartisan" means.

Obviously because I work in the world of sports, I just had to bring up Will Ferrell playing in the Reds spring training game. I would have gone to see the game to see Ferrell play, but more importantly the Reds. On Twitter and Facebook, there was a trending hashtag #FerrellTakesTheField and it brought so much humor to the world of baseball.

This is great. Love Will Ferrell. He's clearly the new "it" guy in Baseball.

So, here goes another one of my not superbly serious Virtual Friday posts, but I'm a trivia addict and game show fan, so I personally found this rather amusing. This Wednesday, on the popular trivia game show Jeopardy!, only one of the three contestants actually made it to Final Jeopardy, the game's last round. The other two had negative scores by the end of the game proper, thus barring them from advancing. There certainly wasn't a lot of tension as to who was going to win after that. Upon realizing the situation, Alex Trebek, the host, looked toward the lone survivor of the trials of trivia hell and said in a decent deadpan, "Kristin, I think you're going to win." Again, maybe this is just me, but I found this to be somewhat hilarious. The YouTube video attached to this article is appropriately titled "NOPE," which just makes it that much funnier. Really, it's surprising that this doesn't happen more often in shows like Jeopardy!, but contestants are chosen quite carefully, usually preventing the situation. Not this time ;)

That is funny, and I'm sorry, but there's something rather hilarious about Alex Trebek's demeanor in general.

#Frozen2 has been trending for the past 24 hours after Disney announced they will be making a sequel to the VERY popular movie that was release a little over a year ago. Disney didn't divulge much information about the movie, other than the fact it's being developed. I saw part of the most one but I don't really understand the hype. I mean, it's alright. But if you're a giant fan, get pumped because Frozen 2 will be out soon(ish)!

I agree with you that the hype seems like a little much in that it is just a movie not something that could change anyone's life. But I know some people cannot live without seeing movies and having to experience the magic.

A sequel is being made and I've yet to see the first one. But I would most certainly take time to build a snowman if someone were to offer.

This website talks about the reds having to not be in contact with each other because of the pinkeye. This is not good but at the same time seems like anything can spread and not just stopping the high fives can spread it. These seems like something that someone should see as a little funny in the way we take care of things and how that move is the only thing we can think of. Really!!!

I don't understand why they just don't bench the players who have pinkeye until it goes away. Like that sounds so much more logical and effective to me, but hey, who am I

So of course it took me getting on Twitter to realize that today is in fact Friday the 13th. #Fridaythe13th was trending (and I believe it still is) and I thought "Ah. Maybe that's why I couldn't find a cart to assist me with moving stuff today until I was done". As a day that has been looked at as a day of unluckiness, horror, terror (or whatever version is alluded to at the time) for many years, I wonder how many people truly do still believe in it. Do you guys engage or is "Friday the 13th" just a series of movies to you?

So while I don't pay too much attention to politics I do know that Secret Service agents should not be getting drunk and crashing cars into the White House fence. Unfortunately in the latest Secret Service scandal (one of four in the last three years) this is exactly what happened this week. I get that they can have lives outside of their jobs, but as people who have such an important job, they should completely know better than to drive drunk. Of course they will be fired because of their conduct but maybe there needs to be new, stricter standards if there have been this many incidents in the past few years.
