Welcome to ENGL 3074 The Rhetoric of Social Media at the University of Cincinnati, Spring Semester 2015. The aim of this course isn't to explain how social media works; the picture to the right can do that for us.
This semester, our goal is to analyze how social media is used effectively (or not) in business and education, and to produce effective social media of our own (blogs, videos, campaigns, oh my!). We'll spend roughly 15 weeks looking at a myriad of social media tools, reading theory behind and case studies about how they work, and ideally learning more about the seemingly limitless realm of social media. We'll take what we read/see and put it into action. Check out our course syllabus. My name is Laura Wilson; I am an Assistant Professor Educator in the Rhetoric and Professional Writing track. This is my second time teaching this course and the second time this course has been offered at UC. As you well know, social media is the future of communication - this semester, you will be a part of creating that future. |
