I'm not usually one to look to Facebook for trending things because often times they are gimmicks. But, going around my Facebook news feed is a video called Diversity & Inclusion - Love Has No Labels.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out about the Gamers Against Bigotry Pledge (gamersagainstbigotry.org), which is riding on the hashtag #10KbyAUG1, getting gamers to sign an online pledge that reads:

Interesting that it cut you off, Jedd. I wonder if there is a character limit for comments...

This Friday is actually kind of a big deal on tumblr.com. There is movement happening on the tag #blackout, that is centered around selfies posted by the online black community celebrating their identities and having a day just for them. This is something that I am happy to watch unfold from the sidelines, and contribute to by liking and reblogging as many selfies as I can.

NFL teams are currently releasing and signing players for the 2015 season and it's causing new trends on twitter. Today, offensive tackle, Michael Oher signed to the Carolina Panthers for a two year deal causing lots of discussion on Twitter. Recognize the name? It's the dude from the movie 'The Blind Side!' I just thought it was kind of cool that even though some people don't care about football, they care (I use this word loosely) about Oher's story and his progression.

I think that is great he got a deal from the panthers and it does show how skill does not always play a role when being drafted for a team.

Remember how last week a good portion of our posts on here were about #TheDress? Well, it turns out that the Salvation Army was also watching the topic trend, because the organization came up with a way to take all the attention this debate was getting and turn it into a powerful spontaneous social media PSA about domestic violence. What started out as a rather inconsequential and goofy argument and ended up everywhere has now been harnessed to raise awareness for an important cause.

I'm really glad you posted this. I know a lot of people (myself included) are very sick of seeing/ hearing about this dress stuff, but honestly this may be the best publicity it will get. It's so easy to overlook people that are going through abuse, but I think through this article and especially the photograph help us all to take a step back and think about what is actually important, because it isn't the dress.

This site discusses the discovery of a new planet and the materials it is made of. The article then goes into how big of a discovery it is and why this is a good thing to talk about. I like learning about news concerning science because of the new possibilities and information changing from the news. The discovery also shows how vast the solar system really is.

If there is one thing that reaaally frustrates me it's mispronunciation of names! Being someone that has a name that people find it hard to pronounce, I understand why there need to be posts like "You've been Pronouncing these Fashion Brands wrong your whole life". It is interesting to check how many of these we get wrong!

Who likes cats? How about fat cats? How bout a 3foot alley cat, named Pickles! I've seen this giant feline frisking thru my Facebook feed all week. I mean really, how and the heebie-jeebies did this cat get so damn big? They must feed him his Bil-Jack with a cup of Jack Daniels! Whatever the case, I wish I'd find him first cuz I'd definitely be waking this monstrosity into dig fights everywhere.... (Just kidding, I ain't going down like Vick!)

Wow. Now THAT is a large cat. Maybe he secretly migrated from Texas? Or a primordial jungle ruled by giant cat overlords?

I'm not particularly sure how people are feeling about discussing the upcoming 2016 election, but I do know that Hilary Clinton has been causing quite a ruckus with her on going issues with her personal e-mail usage. After reading this article I wonder if she will be running for the presidency? While we still have a ways to go with figuring out who will be running or not, I can't help but at least start considering the implications her late indiscretions will have on her. After the Benghazi scandal, her comment saying that "there is a circle of hell for women who do not support women" and now this problematic e-mail usage, I can't help but think she has been going down a slippery slope. I hope that people are paying attention to this stuff, and not just looking at her as a woman. I just wonder what will happen in 2016, because of all the politics going on right now and what will continue to happen over the next year are definitely going to be important if she decides to run for office.

I'm happy to have signed this pledge. I believe bigotry has no place in the virtual world or the physical. Alas it is all too common.
