I've seen girls on social media ripping themselves apart during award shows because they don't look like what they see on television. I'm glad there's a company out there working to make a difference! I'll be sure to look out for this hashtag.

You know what's interesting about this phenomenon is how much the "serious" runners hate it. I'm training for a 1/2 marathon right now and follow many running sites/people - they caution against fun runs bc of injury.

After 12 years, the show 'Two and a Half Men' finally aired its final episode. I won't give any spoilers as to how it ends (if you actually want to watch it, don't click on the following link) but honestly, I'm surprised the show has made it four more years without Charlie Sheen. If you've watched it after Charlie was let go by CBS, you would know for yourself it was not even half as funny as when he was on it. I think it's sad one character can make all the difference but also, not cause a cancellation.

I agree with you that Two and a Half Men lost its humor when Charlie Sheen left the show. That just seem sad and the show could of had promise when the handling the Charlie Sheen issue in the right way.

This is a trailer for the upcoming movie Crimson Peak. This movie clip interests me because of the supernatural. The girl from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland is the star and other actors are with her. She has two pick between her husband or friend to be her significant other while living in a haunted house. I took a Gothic class at UCBA a couple of quarters ago before it changed to semesters. I really liked the class and it focused on ghosts becoming a part of literature and how they can be scary along with how they are portrayed. I also like this clip because it shows ghosts possibly coming back and becoming a huge phenomenon like Twilight.

This trailer looks really promising! I'm a big fan of ghosts and ghost stories in literature and folklore, and this looks like a visually stunning cinematic interpretation of ghost-related horror. I can't tell too much of what it's about from the trailer, but I'm going to keep my eye on this movie. Thanks for sharing!

Something this week I found came along with an interesting Instagram post from PrezOno's account. The picture was a UC student dressing up for the blackout during the Crosstown shootout, but with blackface. The picture has since been taken down but I felt that this was a severe "oh no" for our student body to deal with and try to understand. I understand the idea of having a blackout for the most popular rivalry in Cincinnati basketball, I get that students want to have fun and do things that are crazy to support our school, but this was just too far. This popped up on my newsfeed today and a whole 300+ comments on a student's Facebook page ensued in a full out racism debate by members within our UC community. Santa Ono has taken the picture down and apologized to the African American students this picture offended, but it made me wonder how something like this would even happen. Why wouldn't it be more closely considered before posting? I feel like people will definitely be talking about this in the weeks that follow and I really encouraging people to consider their own level of sensitivity for things when they are posting to social media accounts. I know schools that have had issues within their fraternity and sorority parties for making clearly offensive party themes, posts, and other social media blunders, but I didn't expect this to come from our own President's Instagram account. Needless to say, I am shocked but more just wondering what will happen after the fact. Did anyone else see this? What do people think about the whole ordeal? I am hoping I'm not the only person who saw this this morning.

Wow. o.O No I didn't see it - I don't follow him on Instagram (though I will be now). Do you have shot of the pic? Or a link to the FB debate??

Israel, Jordan, and Syria, and Lebanon received 10" of snow from a rare blizzard. There are many refugees in these countries and the cold can be deadly to young and old. Hopeful government services and communities will come together to ensure all have heat and shelter. Story by Alexandra Gratereaux UPI

Recently, sign language interpreter Mark Cave, who translated a recent Australian press conference about Cyclone Marcia, became popular on Twitter for being almost ridiculously expressive and enthusiastic. #SignGuy became a trending topic, and screenshots of him are pretty easy to find on Twitter.

So this week, Buzzfeed bought GoPop, which is an app that allows users to combine pictures or short videos in order to create a “visual conversation”. This is a win win for both companies: GoPop can help Buzzfeed with its mobile app development as well as its GIFs, and Buzzfeed’s popularity and constant growth will help GoPop spread as well. This opportunity will provide tremendous creative development on both sides and I’m excited to see where this all goes.

It was announced yesterday that comedy writer, Harris Wittels, was found dead in his home from a possible drug overdose. The comedy lost one hell of a writer, as Wittels was best known for being a prominent writer/producer of Parks and Recreation. He also contributed greatly to Comedy Central shows such as The Sarah Silverman Program. Apart from being an underrated writer, he was also a respected standup comedian who has performed with the likes of Louis C.K., Aziz Ansari and Jimmy Kimmel. Many comedians expressed their sorrow yesterday on twitter. Silverman said, “You should know that Harris was brilliant beyond compare. That his imagination was without limit. That he loved comedy more than anything.” As a huge fan of Parks and Recreation, this is a very sad story and tremendous loss to the realm of American comedy. The cause of death is still unannounced pending an autopsy.

Carnegie Mellon University accidentally sent out 800 acceptance emails to students that were actually supposed to be declined from their Computer Science program. The school actually meant to accept only 100 students and hours after the technological glitch, had to send out apology emails to explain the error to the students.
